There is hardly any other basic need that is satisfied in such a diverse, creative way like eating and drinking. The cuisine team at Restaurant Maninseo finds its fresh ingredients for their creations directly in the Salzkammergut and its inspiration in Austria and the whole world. What is created are the carefully prepared Austrian classics and internationally influenced delicacies.

Fish, freshly from Lake Mondsee

Lake Mondsee is one of Austria's cleanest lakes and a superb place for fishing with drinking water quality. In order to save the fish population, fishing has always been subject to limitations. As one of the few restaurants on Lake Mondsee with its own fishing licence we offer our guests fresh fish from Lake Mondsee, which is supplied by a befriended Mondsee fisher.

Zander, roach, carp, char, trout or other regional freshwater fish – every catch of the day is a little surprise in itself.

It’s a true pleasure to eat at the Restaurant Maninseo. I stayed in Mondsee with friends and was lucky to spend a fantastic holiday in the Seehotel Mondsee and to get to know the Restaurant “Maninseo” there. During our five-day stay we spent wonderful evenings in the restaurant and enjoyed the monkfish fillets, but also the beef entrecote, among others. We can say: It was a joy, a pleasure and certainly a “I’d like more of it”. We enjoyed the mild days on the terrace with excellent service.

The location by the Mondsee in the middle of a fabulous park with old trees is beyond comparison. A nice restaurant with cosy rooms in bright colours and a beautiful terrace with a view of pink roses and the garden. The selection of dishes delights with many Austrian specialties, all of them classics, from baked calf’s head to Tafelspitz to Fiakergulasch, Wiener Schnitzel and baked chop from suckling pork or Reinanke, fried as a whole. After that a Tarte Tatin is delicious and as excellent as everything else. The preparation focuses on essentials, straight and careful, with skilled craftsmanship and confident seasoning.
